Powerful Bison

We are currently experience extreme cold temperatures.  I feel so bad for the animals like these that live on the Wildlife Prairie in Illinois.  It’s currently -17 with a windchill of -43 in NW Indiana.  I was with a group of photographers taking photos from a good distance away as as the owners would not allow us passed the gate.  The bison and deer that live on  the prairie seemed to be intimidated by the big group of photographers that were “shooting” them from the gate and moved down the prairie as soon was they saw us.  Aren’t they handsome animals?

Bison in the Snow

What’s the difference between a bison and a buffalo?

It’s so common, in fact, that we sometimes use the two interchangeably. But if you really want to know the difference between a buffalo and a bison, the American Bison is native to North and South America and Europe, while the other two buffalo species reside in Africa and Asia.

Chinese Joy!

This portrait was taken before I got my good camera.  It has low resolution but I would like to share it with you anyway because it brings me such joy.  These three young women were students at Valparaiso University that we hosted years ago.  This was an impromptu photo taken while they were sitting on a bench at a museum.  These ladies were family for a short while but will always remain in my heart.
